About the role

Norrbotten Big Band is a modern big band with a strong artistic identity and a clear focus on development. Newly composed music by both Swedish and international composers is at the heart of our work. We collaborate regularly with leading artists and composers and tour across Norrbotten, throughout Sweden, and internationally. We are also dedicated to nurturing the next generation of jazz musicians through our youth big band, Arctic Youth Jazz Orchestra (AYJO).

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a bass trombonist in Norrbotten Big Band include rehearsals, concerts, tours, recordings, and participation in radio and TV productions. You will also be involved in educational activities, including working with the youth big band Arctic Youth Jazz Orchestra (AYJO) and other initiatives for children and young people.

Requirements

• You should have solid experience in ensemble playing where interaction, responsiveness, and artistic development are central.

• The ability to double on tuba is required, along with a broad musical skill set and a high degree of stylistic versatility.

Qualifications

• A higher music education or equivalent qualifications.

• An excellent skills in bass trombone performance within a big band or larger jazz ensemble.
