About the role
Aquinas High School is seeking a Para-Educator – Teacher Aide to support students with special educational needs. This role involves assisting in regular and resource rooms, providing instruction, and maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Assist students in classroom activities
- Correct papers and record grades
- Supervise at lunch, activity periods, and on playground
- Run copies, laminate, and assemble items for teachers
- Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers
- Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations
- Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups
- Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums
- Conduct demonstrations to teach such skills as sports, dancing, and handicrafts
- Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students
- Distribute tests and homework assignments, and collect them when completed
- Enforce administration policies and rules governing students
- Grade homework and tests, and compute and record results

Pay
The salary for this position will be determined by the Board of Education.
Schedule
The Para-Educator – Teacher Aide works 7-8 hours per day, starting Monday, August 3, 2026.
Early Childhood
Assist in the development of independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
Secondary or Transition Students
Assist with job coaching at community sites, transportation to and from job sites, vocational training programs, and community experience/field trips.
Library/Media
- Check books in and out
- Absist students and teachers in locating books
- Repair books
- Reshelf books and keep shelves in an orderly manner
- Process new books and magazines as needed
- Read to students (as assigned)
- Put up/take down holiday decorations
- Pass out overdue notices
- Check technology and dust
At-Will Employment
Employment with the School District is not for a set period of time and either party may terminate this agreement, with or without cause, and with or without two weeks' notice.
Terms of Employment
The terms of this employment agreement may not be modified except in a writing signed by the Superintendent of Schools.
