About the Role
This part-time, unpaid remote internship offers an opportunity to gain insight into the key skills required to lead and develop a nonprofit organization. The role is 12 hours per week for 12 weeks, with the flexibility to work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks if availability is limited.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocacy Leadership Development – Meet with members of Government in your District/Constituency; represent The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events; mobilize individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.
- Fundraising Development – Learn how to fundraise; create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.
- Recruitment – Update job postings; inform groups and classes of openings; gain introduction to recruitment platforms and listen in to interviews.
- Marketing and Promotion – Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media; utilize social media and develop strategies for web-based messaging.
Qualifications
No prior experience is necessary. The organization is looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of GPA or background.

This is an unpaid internship, though college credit is available. New programs begin every month – you choose the month you wish to start.
