Nonprofit Leadership Internship

About the Role

This part-time, 12-week unpaid remote internship provides insight into the key skills required to lead and develop a nonprofit organization. The role involves working at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine and poverty. With 20 years of experience in the advocacy space, The Borgen Project has supported the passage of numerous bills that have benefitted close to 500 million people in developing countries.

Responsibilities

• Advocacy Leadership Development: Meet with members of Government in your District/Constituency; represent The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events; mobilize individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.
• Fundraising Development: Learn how to fundraise. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.
• Recruitment: Update job postings; inform groups and classes of openings; gain introduction to recruitment platforms and listen in to interviews.
• Marketing and Promotion: Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media; utilize social media and develop strategies for web-based messaging.

Qualifications

No prior experience is necessary. We are looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of GPA or background.

Details

• Commitment: Part-time, 12 hours per week for 12 weeks (remote). If availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks.
• Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, although college credit is available.
• Start Date: New programs begin every month; you choose the month you wish to start.
