The Non-profit Accountant position is a part-time, fully remote opportunity based in the United States. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing monthly accounting activities such as bank and credit card reconciliations, and reviewing balance sheet accounts.
- Adjusting accounts like prepaid expenses, vacation time, and fixed assets to ensure financial accuracy.
- Allocating shared costs across different functions and preparing financial reports for clients.
- Preparing and validating financial reports for staff, boards, and other stakeholders.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements and providing training on QuickBooks and bookkeeping best practices.
Requirements include:
- Experience with monthly close and accounting processes, including reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- A strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and analysis.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, particularly QuickBooks Online, Excel, and cloud-based tools.
- Prior experience in a small or mid-sized nonprofit organization.
- Experience teaching QuickBooks or bookkeeping practices to non-accountants.
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate financial reports.
- A patient, flexible, and supportive communication style when working with clients and colleagues.
- An ability to work independently from a home office and communicate effectively by phone and email.
