About the Role
Responsible for student supervision in the hallways, cafeteria and during recess.
Responsibilities
- Supervises students at recess, during lunchtime, and in hallways.
- Maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
- Directs movement of groups in a safe and organized manner to and from recess in addition to monitoring students in hallways.
- Assists students in cafeteria clean-up.
- Participates in in-service training as directed.
- Demonstrates understanding of students’ needs.
- Demonstrates initiative and creativity with students.
Requirements
- High School diploma; preference given to those having a minimum of two years college.
- Previous experience with children, especially at-risk students or students with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, students, parents and/or administrators.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.
- Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- The employee is occasionally required to use hands to operate office equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to work both inside as well as outside for recess periods.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- The employee must work with parents, staff, students and administrators continuously meeting multiple demands from several people.
- The employee is continuously responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
Pay
Starting rate: $16.75/hour
Schedule
Part-time, 10 months
10:30 am to 2:00 pm daily
