NON DOT Delivery Driver Trainee - Oklahoma City, OK

About the role

This position is designed to develop individuals who want to become DOT drivers but do not have the required license or tractor/trailer experience. A primary requirement of this program is that the individual must obtain a CDL-Permit within two months of entering into the program.

Responsibilities

• Develop proficiency in performing delivery duties while maintaining a good safety record.
• Learn to be efficient in delivering product along assigned routes consisting of multiple stops with various levels of difficulty.
• Read customer invoices to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and delivered.
• Learn to use electronic equipment such as Xata on-board computer and hand-held scanners.
• Adhere to rules governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
• Maintain accuracy of delivered product with no damage due to mishandling.
• Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Conduct safety inspections of vehicles in compliance with DOT and FMCSR guidelines and check fluid levels daily.
• Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to transportation management.
• Become proficient with Smith Systems Defensive Driver Training.

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task assignments and have the willingness to learn new processes.
• Good mathematical skills.
• Proficient with a personal computer.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree).
