About the Role

Performs quality control and quality assurance review and inspections necessary to maintain high standards of quality throughout SRP. Provides material failure analysis and specialized non-destructive examination (NDE) requirements. Reviews specifications and designs for compliance to applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of construction methods, power plant equipment, and operations
• Read and interpret engineering drawings
• Understand project organization, general policies, purchasing, warehousing, and accounting procedures
• Use calculators to tabulate data, maintain files, and prepare reports
• Apply knowledge of electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, structural materials, metallurgy, and welding processes
• Take readings with engineering test and measurement instruments
• Interpret standards and codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, ANSI, ASTM, ASNT, API, AISC)
• Perform quality control activities such as welding inspection, vendor surveillance, and material control
• Maintain certification to SNT-TC-1A, Level II in UT, PT, MT, & ET
• Perform specification reviews
• Occasional out-of-town travel to remote facilities for extended periods

Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit testing, and training are required.

Requirements

A minimum of one of the following is required for Level 1 (Associate):

• Associate's Degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution
• Successful completion of Level II ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, penetrant, and visual testing courses in accordance with SNT-TC-1A from an accredited institution
• In absence of the above, a minimum of three years of related industry experience

For Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of the above educational requirements and 3 years of related industry experience is required. Alternatively, an AWS CWI certification may be considered.

For Senior/Specialist Level, a minimum of the above educational requirements, an AWS CWI certification, and 5 years of related industry experience is required.

Qualifications

This position may be filled at one of three levels based on relevant experience:

• Level I – Associate: Requires up to two (2) years of relevant experience.
• Level II – Journey: Requires a minimum of two (2) years and less than five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Level III – Senior: Requires five (5) or more years of relevant experience.

Eligibility for advancement (progression) to the next level is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.

Promotion to Senior/Specialist level requires a minimum of 3 years of experience at Level 2, an AWS CWI certification, and demonstrated competence in all aspects of the functional area of assignment.
