Non-Certified Firefighter (Part-Time)
About the role
The Village of Tinley Park seeks 15 individuals interested in pursuing a career in Fire Service.
Responsibilities
- Protecting life and property by performing firefighting duties and emergency response work.
- Participating in fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, fire prevention, and public fire safety education.
- Operating apparatus and performing hazardous tasks under emergency conditions.
- Maintaining fire equipment, apparatus, facilities, and ensuring fitness for duty.
- Driving fire service vehicles after successfully completing the Operator Program.
Requirements
- Valid Drivers License (clean driving record)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Successfully complete a one (1) year probationary period
- Successfully pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) for continued employment
- Successfully complete the Basic Operations Fire Fighter Academy for continued employment
- Successfully pass the Basic Operations Fire Fighter Exam within 6 months of completing the Academy for continued employment
Qualifications
- An outstanding work ethic, positive attitude, and self-motivation
- Familiarity with fire services and commitment to making a difference in the community
- Availability to work the minimum required shifts each month and not have any restrictions with other fire employment that limits their ability to meet this requirement

Pay
Upon successful completion of the Basic Operations Fire Fighter Academy and becoming a Certified Firefighter, the new hourly pay rate will be $24.97 (non-EMT) or $25.72 (EMT).
Schedule
- Minimum of (7) 12-hour shifts each month
- Averaging 84 hours per month
- 1 weekend per month

Position Details
The Village of Tinley Park seeks 15 individuals interested in pursuing a career in Fire Service looking for an opportunity for learn the fundamentals with a great organization while working towards becoming a Certified Firefighter and begin their career with the Tinley Park Fire Department by attending the January 2027 Fire Academy Training group class (expenses will be paid by the Village).
