About the Role

Drivers run daily routes with frequent stops, loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading product at each designated stop. The candidate will operate in a cross-dock model, picking up a loaded truck from a nightly delivery and returning the empty truck at the end of the route. May occasionally assist with loading trucks, palletizing product, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Run routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
  • Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart, placing it in designated customer storage areas, including transporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions.
  • Frequently lift, push, or move product weighing 1-75 pounds (up to 100 pounds); frequently reach up to 72” to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts; constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product.
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures.
  • Contact management for authorization when discrepancies appear on invoices; communicate all errors or returns.
  • Report shortages when a customer does not receive their entire order.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally.
  • Operate company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules, and perform pre-trip inspections.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Be 21 years or older.
  • No drug or alcohol violations within the past 3 years.
  • No open violations listed in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • One-year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand English.

Skills

  • Operate a vehicle in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels and established cases per error goals.
  • Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem-resolution skills.
  • Effectively plan and organize work activities independently.
  • Develop a working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques.
  • Maintain inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
  • Communicate articulately and perform simple arithmetic (experience handling money preferred).
  • Build customer loyalty, manage work adaptably, and foster trust.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting of product up to 50 lbs. during the shift; infrequent lifting up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb on and off the box of the truck.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.

If you hold a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you will be designated as a CDL driver, subject to DOT regulations, including participation in the DOT Drug and Alcohol Random Testing Program.
