About the role
Ritter Communications is a leading telecom provider serving the Mid-South region. As part of our commitment to excellence and community impact, we seek a NOC Security Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain IP routing and Ethernet switching solutions in a service provider environment
- Configure, administer, and optimize Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls or equivalent, including policy creation, threat prevention profiles, VPNs, NAT, logging, and integration with security ecosystems
- Maintain and monitor security events and alerts via SIEM platforms and other tools
- Analyze and triage security incidents, including log correlation, network traffic analysis, endpoint forensics, and malware reverse engineering
- Lead incident response efforts, containing breaches, eradicating threats, coordinating remediation, and restoring services
- Conduct digital forensics on affected systems and produce detailed reports
- Perform proactive threat hunting across network infrastructure
- Collaborate with ISPs, telecommunications providers, and internal cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security issues
- Tune and maintain security tools and network devices
- Document network and security configurations, incident playbooks, and response procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in security operations, SOC/NOC analysis
- Experience with SIEM platforms, threat intelligence, MITRE ATT&CK framework, and incident handling
- Experience with Palo Alto Firewall administration and configuration
- Experience with Service Provider transport networks, including Cisco, Ciena, Nokia, Calix, Alcatel, and Metaswitch
- Proficiency in common networking tools and troubleshooting methodologies such as Telnet, SSH, ping, traceroute, and Wireshark
- Experience with scripting and front/back-end development
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+, Blue Team Level 1 (BTL1), Certified CyberDefender (CCD), or equivalents
- Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Nokia NRS I/II, or similar certifications
- Palo Alto certifications with PCCSA, PCNSA, PCNSE
Skills
- Knowledge of telecommunications products and services
- High level proficiency of common networking tools and troubleshooting methodologies
- Scripting and front/back-end development skills
- Proficiency in Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and information
