Key Responsibilities
- Sort and grade lumber according to size, quality, and production standards.
- Stack lumber safely and remove damaged or defective materials.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Help maintain a steady flow of materials throughout production.
- Report quality, equipment, or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and safe equipment practices.
- Work closely with machine operators, forklift drivers, and production team members.
- Perform other duties as needed to support daily sawmill operations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced sawmill or manufacturing environment.
- Capable of standing, bending, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
- Dependable with strong attendance and a team-first attitude.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to a productive work environment.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in sawmill, lumber, pallet, manufacturing, construction, farming, warehouse, or other hands-on work environment.
- Prior lumber grading, sorting, stacking, or forklift experience.
- Mechanical aptitude or interest in learning sawmill equipment operation.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- This position works in an industrial sawmill environment with exposure to noise, sawdust, moving equipment, lumber, forklifts, weather conditions, and varying temperatures.
- The employee may be required to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, bend, twist, push, pull, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
