About the role

As a General Laborer / Lumber Grader & Stacker, you'll help sort, grade, and stack lumber in a dynamic sawmill environment while supporting safe and efficient operations. Ideal for those with experience or interest in manufacturing, production, shipping, warehouse, light industrial, or assembly roles.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and grade lumber according to size, quality, and production standards.
  • Stack lumber safely and remove damaged or defective materials.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Help maintain a steady flow of materials throughout production.
  • Report quality, equipment, or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and safe equipment practices.
  • Work closely with machine operators, forklift drivers, and production team members.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support daily sawmill operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced sawmill or manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of standing, bending, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
  • Dependable with strong attendance and a team-first attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to a productive work environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to commute to Bowling Green, VA.
  • Must be able to work 10-12 hours per day, perform manual labor, and lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sawmill, lumber, pallet, manufacturing, construction, farming, warehouse, or other hands-on work environment.
  • Prior lumber grading, sorting, stacking, or forklift experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude or interest in learning sawmill equipment operation.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This position works in an industrial sawmill environment with exposure to noise, sawdust, moving equipment, lumber, forklifts, weather conditions, and varying temperatures. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, bend, twist, push, pull, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Schedule

Full-time position with potential overtime, weekends, and schedule flexibility based on production needs.
