Position Summary
The Night Wrapper at a food distribution company plays a vital role in the packaging and wrapping of products during the night shift. They will be responsible for manually wrapping pallets, operating the wrapping machine, ensuring labels are on and ensuring the correct pallets. The Night Wrapper will work as part of a team, following standard operating procedures to maintain product quality, cleanliness, and efficiency in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Responsibilities
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas
- Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerated rooms
- Marks materials with identifying information
- Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers by location
- Wraps pallets for 8-hour shift
- Cleans out company trailers; removes empty pallets/crates and organizes for pickup
- Wraps pallets with pallet wrap machine
- Ensures plastic is tight to ensure a quality haul
- Cleans surrounding area of work to ensure a clean workspace
- Follows all safety rules and completes all duties as assigned per business needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Work Environment
- High-energy individual with a strong work ethic; the work is fast paced and very physical
- Lift and carry a minimum of up to 25-75lbs; materials handled vary
