About the role

As an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic on the night shift, this role is responsible for overall preventive and predictive maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, and machinery as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Work includes hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, welding/torch cutting, light machining, lubrication, and mechanical/electrical components. Additional duties may include assisting the mobile mechanic or plant personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Install, adjust, and repair production equipment and special purpose machines as assigned
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools to repair, grease, change parts, and complete tasks
  • Perform welding, torching, and light machining as required
  • Conduct general repairs and preventative maintenance to plant structures
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly
  • Test and troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs, and ensure proper operation in a safe, timely manner
  • Install equipment and/or electrical components and test to ensure proper functioning
  • Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
  • Replace and install parts as needed
  • Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Perform other duties related to the nature of the job as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or comparable training, education, or experience
  • Technical or vocational school certification or equivalent in training or experience
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, operations manuals, and follow step-by-step instructions
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, belting, mechanics, electricity, carpentry, or related field preferred
  • Ability to work with a team or independently
  • Full understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance programs
