Night Shift Loader Operator

Locust Ridge Quarry, a division of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a Loader Operator for the night shift. This role involves performing yard activities such as loading, unloading, storing, transferring, distributing, and inventorying stone products and materials in the industrial plant yard.

Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Conducts pre- and post-trip equipment inspections daily and completes inspection sheets.
• Operates loader by starting engine, shifting gears, pressing pedals, and using steering wheel/joysticks.
• Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket, driving the loader forward to force the bucket into finished product.
• Raises and tilts bucket when filled to dump material into trucks or rail cars.
• Provides excellent customer service to all on-site customers.
• Maintains smooth and safe haul roads.
• Keeps stockpiles properly bermed and maintained.
• Ensures product is blended correctly.
• Performs routine loader maintenance, such as lubricating and cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) from an accredited institution or one month of related experience and/or training.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to pass a fit test and use appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical job requirements (movement, lifting, etc.).
• Able to work night shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ months of related experience.
• Experience operating heavy equipment.
• Strong preference for prior loader operation experience.
• Experience in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial setting.
• MSHA or other relevant safety certification.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger/handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Frequently exposed to moving parts.
• Noise level is usually loud.
