Night Shift General Underground Equipment Operator

About the role
We are seeking a Night Shift General Underground Equipment Operator for our Gallatin Quarry in Gallatin, TN. The successful candidate will have experience operating mining equipment in an underground mining environment and an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. In addition to operating equipment, this individual may work with the blasting process or on the ground maintaining safety items and keeping the mine well ventilated.
Full-time night shift position with wages starting at $30.00/hr.
Responsibilities
- Operate a face drill and/or roof bolter in an underground hard rock mine.
- Operate a wheel loader in a confined space to muck headings and load haul trucks.
- Run a scaler or an excavator with scaler attachment to scale rock from mine walls.
- Work with explosives and the blasting process to facilitate production.
- Perform general work around the quarry and other assigned duties.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA/Environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
Requirements
- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- At least one year of proficient experience operating underground mining equipment (e.g., face drill, scaler, roof bolter, or loader) is preferred.
- Willingness to work in an underground mining environment.
- Willingness to work with explosives and the blasting process; valid TN Explosive Handlers Card or Blasting Permit, or ability to obtain/renew those permits.
- Able to operate underground mining equipment with precision and excellence in confined spaces.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to work underground and outside in all types of weather and tolerate exposure to loud noises.
- Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
