This is a contract position based in Sterling, VA, with a required night shift: Sunday-Tuesday or Wednesday-Friday with alternating Saturday, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
About the role
The Data Center Technical Operations Engineer will be responsible for Data Center Engineering Operations, including risk management, mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management, and metric reporting.
Responsibilities
- On-site management of shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring all work aligns with established practices and procedures.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance.
- Collaborate with IT managers and business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Operate and manage routine and emergency services for critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
- Assist in the design and build-out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
- Responsible for asset and inventory management.
- Assist in recruiting efforts.
- Deliver quality service and ensure all customer demands are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Military/Trade School Degree with relevant experience.
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
- 0-2 years of management experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of Data Center Engineering Experience (preferred).
- 0-2 years of Data Center Management Experience (preferred).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline (preferred).
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low-voltage copper/fiber cabling.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00 per hour.
