Night Custodian

This position performs custodial work required for the cleaning and upkeep of buildings in accordance with the standards of the Night Custodial team, ensuring a clean and healthy learning and working environment for all members of the campus community.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties as assigned, including trash collection and removal; cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing restrooms; cleaning floors, stairs, and carpets; dusting; replacing light bulbs; cleaning windows and other glass surfaces; shoveling snow and de‑icing building entrances.
• Learn to use and operate janitorial equipment such as automatic scrubbers, high‑speed buffers, carpet extractors, upright vacuums, and low‑speed floor scrubbers.
• Maintain adequate stock of custodial supplies in assigned custodial closets.
• Inspect equipment and inform the supervisor of any issues.
• Assist in setting up or taking down special events as directed, which may include moving and removing large and heavy objects (chairs, tables, stages) alone or with a coworker.
• Demonstrate proper ladder safety.

• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies, including proper usage.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Regular movement between indoor and outdoor campus locations with exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Physically demanding work that may require walking, navigating uneven or slippery surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Frequent use of fine motor skills to push, pull, or maneuver a range of equipment.
• Regular lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds.

Pay

Hourly rate: $17.50 (Non‑Exempt).

Schedule

Hours: 4:00 pm to 12:30 am.
