NICU Cohort-Registered Nurse, Full-time Nights 7p - 7a, NICU, Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center
Atlantic Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Cohort at Morristown Medical Center. This cohort begins October 19th. The Atlantic Health System Neonatal ICU University Program will be completed in conjunction with the AWHONN Neonatal Orientation & Education Program (NOEP), a comprehensive education and orientation program designed to provide evidence-based, clinical education to neonatal nurses caring for high-risk and vulnerable newborns.
For non-NICU experienced RNs with at least one year of nursing experience, this will be a 16-week course that includes 12 weeks of clinical orientation combined with didactic course work and 4 weeks of independent practice. All participants may earn up to 41.25 nursing contact hours.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care for all levels of neonatal patients.
- Collaborate with all members of the health care team through shared governance to promote evidence-based care within a healing culture for neonatal patients and their families.
- Demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values in every aspect of the role.
- Possess excellent communication and computer skills.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required (BSN preferred).
- Valid New Jersey Nursing License required.
- BLS certification required.
- NRP certification required upon hire.
- 1-2 years of registered nurse experience in an acute care Medical/Surgical or Critical Care environment.

About The Team
Our NICUs are sophisticated intensive care units offering technologically advanced equipment and cutting-edge therapies. Our medical teams are on-site 24/7 and attend every delivery where postnatal complications are possible. Patient care emphasizes Family-Centered Care, with parents and families integral to the healing process.
- Goryeb Children’s Hospital (Morristown Medical Center): 34-bed Level III NICU, designated a Regional Perinatal Center by the New Jersey Department of Health.
- Overlook Medical Center: 15-bed Level III NICU.
- Chilton Medical Center: Level II Special Care Nursery, staffed by neonatologists, advanced neonatal practitioners, and pediatric hospitalists. Provides care for infants born at a gestational age of greater than 31 weeks with critical care needs.
- Newton Medical Center: Level II Intermediate Care Nursery, staffed by in-house pediatric hospitalists available 24/7 to coordinate neonatal care and attend deliveries.
All NICUs are equipped to care for extremely premature infants and babies with a wide variety of illnesses, genetic conditions, and surgical requirements. Neonatologists and advanced neonatal practitioners are on-site 24 hours a day to ensure continuity of care.
