NGM - Grade Control Technician
About the role
We are looking for a Grade Control Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will safely collect, process, and manage grade control drill samples in accordance with company procedures, ensuring representative sample quality and integrity to support accurate ore control, mine planning, and production decisions. This role supports the Grade Control Drilling team through safe work practices, attention to detail, and adherence to sampling and QA/QC standards.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety by complying with all health, safety, environmental, and site procedures.
- Complete all work in accordance with safe work procedures, risk assessments, and supervisor instructions.
- Collect, process, label, bag, and dispatch RC grade control samples in accordance with approved sampling procedures.
- Maintain sample integrity throughout the sampling process by preventing contamination and ensuring representative sample collection.
- Monitor sample recovery and immediately report any issues affecting sample quality or representativeness.
- Ensure all samples are correctly labelled, recorded, stored, and transported in accordance with site procedures.
- Assist with QA/QC activities including duplicate, blank, and standard sample insertion where required.
- Maintain clean and organized sampling areas, equipment, and workspaces.
- Inspect and maintain sampling equipment including splitters, cyclones, sample hoses, and associated equipment.
- Report equipment defects, hazards, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Assist geologists with grade control activities as required.
- Accurately complete sampling records, production sheets, and electronic data entry.
- Work collaboratively with Drillers, Geologists, Surveyors, Mining personnel, and Maintenance teams.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety interactions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Grade Control Supervisor.
Requirements
- Previous experience in mining, drilling, sampling, laboratory, or mineral processing operations required.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a zero-harm safety culture required.
- Strong understanding of the importance of sample integrity and contamination control required.
- Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and supervisor directions accurately required.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate and reliable work required.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn, develop new skills, and participate in ongoing training preferred.
- Ability to perform repetitive manual handling tasks safely preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills preferred.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills preferred.
- Basic computer literacy preferred.
- Current driver’s license required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the inherent requirements of the position required.
- Previous RC sampling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of grade control sampling procedures preferred.
- Experience working in an open pit mining environment preferred.
- Understanding of QA/QC sampling requirements preferred.
- Experience using electronic sampling or geological data systems preferred.
- First Aid qualification preferred.
