About the Role

The RCX Sports Foundation, the non-profit arm of RCX Sports, is hiring NFL FLAG Officials (1099 Independent Contractors) to support NFL FLAG leagues across Michigan. This role focuses on expanding youth sports opportunities in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Assignments vary by league location and seasonal schedule, with hiring occurring year-round for Spring (Apr–mid-Jun), Summer (mid-Jun–Jul), and Fall (Sep–Oct) seasons.

This is a seasonal, league-based 1099 Independent Contractor role with assignments at multiple sites across Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Officiate youth NFL FLAG games in accordance with NFL FLAG rules, safety protocols, and the prescribed game format
• Manage game time, flow, and schedules to support efficient league operations
• Identify rule violations and communicate penalties clearly to players, coaches, and spectators
• Maintain neutrality and professionalism, including de-escalating disputes when needed
• Conduct pre-game field and equipment inspections to ensure safe playing conditions
• Complete required post-game reporting and documentation
• Promote a positive, welcoming environment that emphasizes learning, fun, and respect for all participants
• Officiate assigned games to RCX Sports standards
• Submit timely post-game reports as required
• Arrive on time and represent RCX Sports professionally at all assigned locations

Qualifications

• Physically fit, as officiating involves a lot of running
• Able to remain calm and level-headed in high-pressure situations
• Knowledgeable of the rules and referee signals (training provided)
• Strong people skills to confidently interact with players, parents, and coaches

Pay

Starting at $30 per game, with weekly pay.

Schedule

Seasonal, league-based assignments with multiple seasons: Spring (Apr–mid-Jun), Summer (mid-Jun–Jul), and Fall (Sep–Oct). Assignments vary by week and site, with locations potentially changing weekly.

Location

Michigan (multiple league locations). Assignments may vary by week and site, and you may be scheduled within a 25-mile radius of the primary area where you apply, based on league needs and your availability.
