About the role

RCX Sports Foundation, the non-profit arm of RCX Sports, works to develop, promote, and implement diversity and inclusion in youth sports. As an NFL FLAG Official (1099 Independent Contractor), you’ll support NFL FLAG leagues across Michigan, helping create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children.

We hire and staff officials year-round across multiple seasons (Spring, Summer, and Fall), with assignments varying by league location and seasonal schedule.

Role type: 1099 Independent Contractor with seasonal, league-based assignments at multiple sites across Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Officiate youth NFL FLAG games in accordance with NFL FLAG rules, safety protocols, and the prescribed game format
• Manage game time, flow, and schedules to support efficient league operations
• Identify rule violations and communicate penalties clearly to players, coaches, and spectators
• Maintain neutrality and professionalism, including de-escalating disputes when needed
• Conduct pre-game field and equipment inspections to ensure safe playing conditions
• Complete required post-game reporting and documentation
• Promote a positive, welcoming environment that emphasizes learning, fun, and respect for all participants
• Officiate assigned games to RCX Sports standards
• Submit timely post-game reports as required
• Arrive on time and represent RCX Sports professionally at all assigned locations

Qualifications

• Physically fit—officiating involves a lot of running
• Ability to stay level-headed in high-pressure situations
• Knowledgeable of the rules and referee signals (training provided)
• Strong people skills to confidently interact with players, parents, and coaches

Pay

Starting at $30 per game, with weekly pay.

Schedule

• Seasonal, league-based assignments year-round: Spring (Apr–mid-Jun), Summer (mid-Jun–Jul), and Fall (Sep–Oct)
• Assignments vary by week and site; you may be scheduled at various locations within a 25-mile radius of the primary area where you apply
