NF Grader/Sorter

About the role

Grader/Sorters are responsible for grading and sorting metal products based on appearance and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Other duties include general yard cleanup and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Frequent walking on uneven ground
• Handling and grasping materials
• Crouching, bending, reaching, climbing, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Close visual acuity for detailed work
• Hearing and communicating by speech for safety purposes
• General yard maintenance including digging, sweeping, weed and brush maintenance, and blacktop repainting
• Sorting scrap, metal, and debris for processing
• Greasening and general yard cleanup
• Aiding in repairs and maintenance at railroad
• Providing backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned
• Reporting all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions for maintenance or repair to the proper supervisor

Requirements

• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions
• Basic English speaking and understanding skills
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned
• Experience in a scrap yard preferred
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive an automobile

Qualifications

• Age 18+ for U.S. applicants
• Age 16+ for Canada applicants
