Young Life requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith. About the Role
This position is intended for a local person who is currently engaged with the ministry. The individual will also be part of the NextGen Leadership cohort, which involves travel and additional training.
Responsibilities
Spiritual Development
- Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and study of God’s Word.
- Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community.
- Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
- Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
Leadership Development
- Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
- Recruit and train new leaders to build a team that reflects the community.
- Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
- Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee members on effective teamwork and ministry strategy development.
Resource Development
- Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.
- Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
- Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community (e.g., principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members).
- Assist with camp fundraisers.
Direct Ministry
- Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
- Lead a team to plan and conduct a Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
- Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
- Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
Ministry Support
- Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
- Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using mission-wide applications.
- Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors.
- Provide clear, prompt, and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry.
- Set and review yearly strategic ministry plans to reach every kid.
- Perform other duties as assigned, congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
Training
- Missionwide Training: None required. Optional events (e.g., New Staff Training, Winter Training, Focus Conferences, Young Life University) are available with regional director approval.
- Regional Training: No mission-wide curriculum; regional training may be required at the regional director’s discretion.
- Area Training: Actively engage in training provided by area leadership, including individualized programs for spiritual maturity, character development, and ministry skills (e.g., The 5 C’s).
- Learn area strategy and ministry health as assigned by the area director.
- Introduction to personal fund-raising principles, including familiarity with Basic Elements for Part-time staff.
Qualifications
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Education
College degree preferred.
