About the role

Primary responsibility is to facilitate the Next Gen Conference curriculum content for high school students for one week. The Next Gen Conference is a career-focused conference centered around the AFNR career pathways. In 2026, there will be three Next Gen Conferences:

  • Plant Systems – March 9-13, 2027, St. Louis, Mo.
  • Food Products & Processing Systems – June 22-26, 2027, Detroit, Mich.
  • Environmental Services & Natural Resources – Sept. 14-18, 2027, Denver, Co.

Staff members are required to participate in three-four days of planning and training prior to the conference.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate conference curriculum in both large and small groups.
  • Provide counsel to participants and motivate students.
  • Act as a tour group leader and introduce industry professionals.
  • Discipline conference participants when necessary.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Pre-conference training calls.
    • Timely completion of expense reports.
    • Scheduling of conference travel.
    • Correspondence with national FFA staff.
  • Constantly work to improve the program and yourself as a trainer and leader.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Passion for or experience in the career pathway(s).
  • Ability to perform the mental and physical demands of the position.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently in a frequently changing environment.
  • Good interpersonal, listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and work with a diverse group of internal/external people.
  • Excellent customer service skills for internal and/or external customers.
  • Strong prioritization, organization, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving/analytical abilities.
  • Computer literacy and ability to make and receive phone calls.
  • Confidence in speaking in front of small and large groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Personal access to, and ability to use, a computer or laptop.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma, Some College.

Experience: Previous FFA experience preferred.
