About the role
As a sales associate, you will be the face of our company, highlighting our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will assist customers, helping them recognize the need for our products and services, and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Proactively engage and connect with customers. Ask questions, listen to customer needs, and direct them to merchandise. Inform customers about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card. Provide premier customer service, build positive and inclusive relationships, and take accountability for your actions and outcomes.
- Organization: Maintain store appearance.
- Sales: Cross-sell products and know the store layout. Make suggestions to customers based on the latest trends and current promotions tailored to their individual needs. Upsell products, learn product features, and keep up with trends. Use company tools and technology to provide customers with product knowledge and specifications. Operate a Point-of-Sale system, process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards. Handle cash, including counting money and returning accurate amounts. Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- Inventory: Manage merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed. May participate in periodic inventories.
- Dependability: Adhere to assigned work schedule and follow through accurately and completely on work assignments. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Product Knowledge: Basic knowledge of products and merchandise.
- Experience: Retail experience preferred but not required.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management, including proper telephone etiquette.
- Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task while remaining attentive to customers and flexible to the needs of the business. Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
- Physical Demands: Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, and grabbing. Standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs in some departments.
- Work Environment: Typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending on location.
- Other Skills: Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.
Schedule
Part-time (20 - 34.5 hours). Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. No experience required.
