NEX NORFOLK - FRAMER (CUSTOM FRAMING)

About the Role

Responsible for completing custom picture frames according to selected design(s) specified by customers. Makes recommendations to customers on different customization options such as matting, mounting, shadow-boxing, and more.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting custom wood and metal frame designs.
• Inform customers on differences between services like molding, mounting, matting, shadow boxing, etc.
• Ensure accurate measurements for custom framing of oil and canvas paintings, still pictures, glass, and mirrors.
• Use on-site equipment to cut and assemble shadow boxes, frames, and needlework for custom orders.
• Handle power and manual tools safely, including proper disposal of waste glass.
• Identify customer needs and recommend additional custom framing services through suggestive selling.
• Review finished products with customers to ensure they meet specifications.
• Securely repackage merchandise for customer transport.
• Adhere to policies for cash and stock security, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Interact with vendors to convey customer specifications and check order status.
• Inspect incoming merchandise for breakage or non-receipt, sign receiving reports, and advise supervisors of issues.
• Demonstrate custom framing samples to customers and recommend color schemes or textures.
• Take inventory and advise supervisors of needed items.
• Respond to customer inquiries promptly and courteously.

Qualifications

• One year of general retail and customer service experience, or equivalent education (one year of high school education can substitute for 3 months of experience, up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of experience).
• Three years of specialized experience in custom picture framing, including accurate measuring, use of power and manual tools, and assembly of wood and metal frames, mats, and glass cutting.
