Based in New York and an operating business of IAC (NASDAQ: IAC), the publication seeks a motivated and dependable writer and reporter to join its award-winning team focused on producing a new newsletter covering prediction markets and online betting.

Responsibilities

• Cover and develop the prediction markets and online betting beat as part of the Daily Beast’s growing newsletter business.
• Deliver sharp and original reporting on prediction markets and betting platforms, and their intersection with politics, technology, and culture.
• Produce stories that stay a half‑step ahead of the competition, weaving interviews, anecdotes, and exclusive details into compelling narratives.
• Generate ideas and leverage a growing network of sources and contacts to build original reporting and scoops.
• Understand the newsletter landscape and how to succeed in this space, engaging readers and curating cross‑functional content.

Qualifications

• One to two years’ experience writing breaking news at a fast pace, ideally for large‑scale outlets with a focus on business/tech topics.
• A voracious news diet focused on prediction markets, online betting, financial reporting, and the key characters leasing these platforms.
• A strong, confident writer’s voice.
• Team player, willing and able to collaborate with editors and other reporters to ensure comprehensive coverage.
• Self‑starter who can conceive and execute stories with impact; able to take initiative, receive constructive feedback, and work with minimal supervision.
• Comfort meeting quick deadlines, and flexibility to work evening/weekend hours where needed.
• Prior knowledge of a content management system is a plus.
• Prior knowledge of social media and comfort on camera is also a plus.

Pay

The pay range for this full‑time position is $59,000 - $65,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to work location, experience, and other factors.
