Newscast Director

Responsibilities

• Perform any production duties as assigned including: Direct and code any assigned newscasts and productions using our Ross, Overdrive and SAGA automation systems.
• Work with Producers on production of newscasts and special projects.
• Work with remote production crew on sports telecasts. Duties may include directing, camera operation, replay, graphics or audio along with set up and tear down duties.
• Maintain production studio and control room.
• Ensure studio equipment and production areas are organized, operational and cleaned at the beginning of each shift.
• Work with management on maximizing quality of newscasts, production workflows and technical operations.

Requirements

• Experience Directing newscasts.
• Knowledge of production standards and equipment.
• Experience with broadcast automation systems and production control room operations.
• Able to clearly give direction to crew while under pressure.
• Able to remain calm and make quick decisions during breaking news and severe weather coverage.
• Able to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours.
• Must be able to lift up to 40-pound lighting instruments
