News Anchor

About the Role

KRQE Media Group in Albuquerque is seeking an evening News Anchor for Monday through Friday. You will serve as the primary presenter of news stories and other content across all platforms, delivering information in a clear, engaging, and meaningful way to news consumers.

Responsibilities

• Present news stories and other content for all platforms, ensuring adherence to company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Write and deliver news stories in a clear and concise manner.
• Produce newscasts and provide clear direction to team members.
• Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news programming and other content.
• Act as a field reporter as assigned, conducting interviews with news personnel and others.
• Respond to breaking news and urgent newsroom situations.
• Participate in promotional activities, including public appearances.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Edit video clips as assigned.
• Write content for the website and other digital media platforms.
• Interact with viewers and users on social media sites.

Requirements & Skills

• Degree in Broadcast Journalism, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluency in English with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to ad lib when required.
• Minimum five years’ experience in news reporting or anchoring.
• Superior on-air presence and excellent news judgment, with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
• Experience guiding, directing, and motivating others.
• Ability to identify developmental needs and coach, mentor, or help others improve their skills.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong listening skills to fully understand problems and collaborate with a team to shape solutions.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
