Responsibilities

• Providing professional, medical treatment to students
• Early detection of student physical problems and completing student health evaluations
• Coordinating vision, hearing, and orthopedic screening and health assessments
• Providing, or assisting teachers with providing, disease prevention, nutrition and general health education
• Assisting school personnel with the promotion of health education and immunization programs
• Designing and implementing student Individualized Health Plans (IHPs)
• Providing, and/or overseeing, student medication administration and medical treatments as required by student’s IHP
• Maintaining clinical records
• Providing emergency aid to students and school staff
• Consulting with, conducting in-service training for, and serving as a resource person for school staff
• Participating in the implementation of health instruction/curriculum
• Counseling and assisting students and parents in health-related adjustments

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in specific state required
• Two years of successful experience as a school nurse preferred
• Valid CPR certification required
• Successful completion of training, testing, and/or additional requirements as stated by contract required
• Excellent Communication skills
• Proficiency in the English language required
• Current Health Certificate (per facility contract or state regulation) required
• Must meet all federal, state, local, and contract requirements
• Technological proficiency including mobile devices for documentation
• Must be at least 18 years of age
