About the role
As an NPI Manufacturing Engineer at Potter Global Technologies, you will lead the manufacturing readiness of new products from concept through launch. This role bridges product design, engineering, supply chain, and operations to ensure new products are manufacturable, cost-effective, scalable, and meet quality, safety, and delivery requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities for new product development and introduction.
- Support product design reviews to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Quality (DFQ).
- Develop and execute manufacturing plans, routings, and work instructions for new products.
- Cook up pilot builds, prototypes, and first-article runs; analyze results and drive improvements.
- Design, develop, and validate manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Establish standard work, cycle times, and labor requirements for new products.
- Identify and implement automation or process improvements where applicable.
- Ensure processes meet safety, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Operations teams.
- Act as the manufacturing subject matter expert during NPD phase-gate reviews.
- Participate in supplier selection and development for new components and processes.
- Support PFMEA, control plan development, and risk assessments.
- Support PPAP/FAI activities and ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues during ramp-up and early production.
- Support product cost modeling and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Ensure manufacturing solutions are scalable for volume production.
- Support capacity planning and equipment justification for new product launches.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including BOMs, routings, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Train production and maintenance teams on new processes and equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 3–7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with NPI/NPD, or related roles is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production systems.
- Experience with DFM/DFA principles and process validation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
