About the role
The New Product Introduction (NPI) Technician will report to the NPI Supervisor and will be responsible for performing NPI Builds, line trials, and maintaining the NPI area. This person is expected to execute against provided manufacturing instructions, validate their own work, check the quality of previous operations, mentor production associates, lead builds in a defined area, and meet schedules. The NPI Technician is expected to provide feedback, define standard work, and suggest process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex and precise electro-mechanical assembly work and work independently once a task is assigned
- Make connections with other employees and work fluidly with the team to achieve results
- Troubleshoot and rework, requiring understanding of the functional operation of assembled items and finished product
- Work from complex and detailed manufacturing documentation, drawings, and/or verbal and written instructions
- Use specialized fixtures and test equipment
- Demonstrate a quick and flexible approach to problem-solving, task juggling, and collaboration
- Perform quality activities, including self-inspection and inspection
- Update production records and test results, record process improvements, and manufacturability suggestions
- Manage and complete tasks for multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to standard times
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
Requirements
- Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions and mechanical drawings with a basic understanding of electrical systems
- High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail combined with the ability to work quickly
- Basic machine shop skills desired; welding skills a plus
- Reliable, with good initiative, commitment, and quality focus
- Ability to manage time, juggle multiple tasks, and prioritize
- Previous product launch experience
- Fluent in MS Office Suite
- Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule and work overtime as needed
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures
