As a New Product Development & Sourcing Buyer I this role will manage activities involved with new product development and sourcing, resulting in contracting terms, and purchasing material from existing partners or new suppliers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement process for prototype and production materials, acting as the key liaison between Engineering, Suppliers, Quality and Manufacturing.
- Work closely with Project and Program Management teams, on multiple development projects, including timelines, meetings, and project events while providing communication and oversight to suppliers.
- Monitor market conditions and trends to make informed business decisions.
- Research and identify potential new suppliers, including possible onsite reviews. Manage Request for Quote (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve supply chain continuity and stabilized cost.
- Distributes Engineering Change Requests, Supplier Process Changes, to support the Quality system, between Arthrex's stakeholders and suppliers.
- Set up new Part Numbers in the MRP system, including planning and delivery parameters, logistics and commercial conditions.
- Manage MRP and new project forecasting reports for inventory and non-inventory planning and order execution.
- Ensure ramp-up and limit back-orders of all assigned for new products releases.
- Maintain material cost projections, ensure adherence to budgets, and identify future cost reduction or cost avoidance opportunities.
- Negotiate contractual terms including NDAs, Development Agreements, Supply Agreements, and SOWs with new and existing Arthrex partners.
- Manage Logistic, Duties, and Tariff conditions with suppliers importing to the US.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 2 years' inventory management and control experience required.
- 1 year manufacturing environment experience required.
- 1-year regulated industry experience preferred.
- 1-year medical device industry experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic MRP/ERP knowledge preferred.
- Knowledge of materials management, regulations, procedures, and Logistics.
- Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Intermediate level for negotiation, project management, and analytical skills.
- Microsoft Office knowledge preferred (Office, Word, Outlook).
- Good numerical, analytical skills preferred.
- Evaluating supplier proposals, and determining Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Identifying root causes for supply chain disruptions, logistical delays, or quality issues.
- Analyzes and documents inventory management issues using independent judgment.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and control concepts.
- Moderate knowledge of MS Office required.
- Ability to operate ERP/MRP main functions.
- Thorough knowledge of production and manufacturing flow.
- Intermediate ability to negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, volume discounts, and optimal contract terms.
- Must have the ability to perform tasks by reading, understanding, and following work instructions/documents provided.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for manufacturing products.
