Summary New Product Design Machinist will support new product development by setting up and proving out Haas CNC machines, fixtures, and machining programs. This role works closely with Engineering, Programming, Tooling, and Manufacturing teams to ensure new products transition efficiently into production. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has strong problem-solving and communication skills as well as a strong work ethic. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Set up and prepare Haas CNC machines for new product manufacturing.Prove out and validate new fixtures to ensure proper function and repeatability.Prove out CNC programs, identifying and resolving machining issues before production release.Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to optimize machining processes.Provide input during engineering and production meetings regarding tooling, fixtures, machining strategies, and process improvements.Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and programming issues to improve efficiency and quality.Works from drawings, blueprints, job layouts, or other written specifications, determines feeds, speeds, tooling and operational sequences.Change cutting tools and location of work pieces during machining process.Operates and adjusts machines until parts produced conform with specifications and time standards along with programming.Detects and corrects improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual or unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management/Maintenance.Detects and reports significant variances in job standards and cycle times to NPD Manager.Upon completion of “First Article of Verification” trains and monitors work of operator assigned to that machine.Responsible for cleanliness with the team in the NPD workspace.Verify part quality through first-piece inspections and process validation.Maintain accurate setup documentation and process notes.Follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department. Experience 5+ years of CNC setup experience with Haas CNC machines.Experience proving out new fixtures and CNC programs.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.Strong understanding of cutting tools, work holding, machining processes and vacuum fixtures.Experience with first article inspections and process validation.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel and control objects or tools. The employee is regularly required to stand and occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes.
