About the role
The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Belton Regional Medical Center is a year-long, paid program designed to give you hands-on experience and establish valuable clinical and critical thinking skills. As a Resident I Graduate Nurse, you will be surrounded by a supportive community of nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents to promote learning, clinical application, and socialization as you transition from student nurse to registered nurse.
The program includes:
- Advanced clinical training in a specialty area
- Monthly educational sessions
- Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
- Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulations
- Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders
- Collaborative work on an evidence-based practice project
The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with department-specific requirements and scope of practice standards. In collaboration with medical providers and the care team, the RN Resident provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The role serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to support an unparalleled patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting changes in patient status
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s)
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient for therapeutic response
- Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended medication response
- Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures
- Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
- Other certifications may be required during employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing completed prior to start date (may apply up to 8 months in advance)
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State within 90 days of graduation per State of Missouri guidelines
- No previous experience needed

Pay
$5,000 Relocation Bonus offered for those more than 50 miles from our hospitals.
