New Grad RN Nurse Residency Cardiac Medical Unit
About the role
HCA Healthcare is committed to the growth and development of its future nurses through the HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. This year-long program offers hands-on experience to help establish valuable clinical and critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications.
- Maintain patient safety by monitoring for therapeutic response and notifying providers of any unintended responses.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and teach patients, families, and caregivers about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and medications.
- Collaborate with medical providers and other members of the care team to provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
- No previous experience needed.
- Some travel may be needed for training.
Skills
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
