About the Role

This Advanced Practice Provider (APP; nurse practitioner or physician assistant) will be an integral member of the Neurosciences team at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah—a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level I Trauma Center. In this role, you will partner closely with a neurosurgeon and another APP to provide care for patients with a broad range of neurosurgical conditions, including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and tumors. Responsibilities include delivering care across the outpatient clinic and inpatient settings, as well as first-assisting in neurosurgical procedures in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Split time between the outpatient clinic and hospital, including:
  • First-assisting in surgical cases
  • Inpatient rounding and consults
  • New patient and follow-up clinic visits
• Work a 40-hour workweek, with dedicated clinic and OR days
• Provide call coverage in support of the neurosurgeon, approximately 5–6 days per month, including weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays (call in addition to standard 40-hour workweek)

Requirements

• APRN or PA-C degree from an accredited program
• Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one
• BLS certification and DEA
• Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $57.33 - $88.47. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

Work Environment

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, and medication preparation
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, often navigating crowded and busy rooms
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods
