About the role

The University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine invites applicants for a full-time faculty position to serve as a neuropathologist. The academic appointment may be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X (senate) series, depending on experience and extent of research effort.

Incumbents in the HS series are expected to provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities. Incumbents in the Clinical X series are expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criterion for appointment in the Clinical X series. An academic appointment in the Clinical X series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate.

Responsibilities

  • Mainly responsible for clinical services in neuropathology including frozen section on-call duty, service on departmental and hospital committees, and teaching and mentoring of junior faculty, medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Additional interest in general autopsy pathology or cardiothoracic pathology would be beneficial.

Requirements

  • Fellowship training in neuropathology.
  • Hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree.
  • Be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology.
  • Eligible for a California medical license.
