About the role
The Neurology Technician plays a vital role in supporting a highly specialized neurology program at National Jewish Health. This role involves performing specialized testing, working alongside expert neurologists and multidisciplinary care teams, and delivering safe and appropriate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Performs nerve conduction studies (NCS), autonomic testing, and QSART.
- Prepares patients for procedures and explains testing procedures.
- Measures electrical activity in peripheral nerves and recognizes artifacts.
- Collects and labels lab specimens and prepares them for analysis.
- Assists with more complex specialized procedures as needed.
- Documents vital signs and patient medical history.
- Coordinates telephone communication with patients, families, and referring providers.
- Implements a plan for each clinic to identify and anticipate potential clinic flow problems.
- Restocks exam rooms on a daily basis.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Neurodiagnostic Technology, or other allied health program.
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant, LPN, Neurodiagnostic Technician, or other allied health role.
- Certification by the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists within the first 18 months of employment.
