About the role
This position is seeking a full-time (4.0 or 4.5 days/week) neurologist to join a highly productive, skilled, and popular neurologist at Androscoggin Valley Hospital (AVH) and selected outreach clinic sites.
Responsibilities
- Office-based general neurology services to new and established patients (adolescents age 16 and older as well as adults)
- Medication management, education and counseling of patients and families
- Ordering diagnostic tests
- Referral to related other specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, pain management, pulmonology, sleep medicine) locally
- Referral to subspecialty neurologists at tertiary care centers
- Communication with primary care physicians (PCP’s)
- Partners with other members of neurology team (e.g., neurologist colleague, radiologist, EEG technologists, MA’s and RN’s, physical therapists)
- Infrequently provides consultation for inpatients (0-3 times/week)
- More often provides curbside consultations to hospitalists and arranges to see patients in the office setting following discharge and/or specialized testing
Requirements
- Prior experience (at least 2-5 years) in broad spectrum of general neurology
- Selected new graduates from residency or fellowship training may be eligible
- Prior experience in a small hospital or CAH desired
- Comfortable with rural nature of practice/hospital, only one neurology colleague, solo coverage, and AVH’s complement of specialists and diagnostic testing capacity
- Special clinical interests/expertise to complement those of current neurologist and expand scope of services to our region
- Ability to interpret EEG studies desirable but not required
- Does not need ability to perform or interpret NCS/EMG studies
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO)
- Board certification in Neurology
- Current medical license in NH
- Current DEA license
- Medical Staff membership at AVH

Benefits
- Placement fee: $20,000
- CME funds: $4,500
- Commencement bonus: $25,000
- Projected total compensation: $352,391 (base and 100% of citizenship bonus) plus productivity
Pay
- Salary: $337,391
- Salary prorated for FTE of 0.89 + $4,500
Schedule
- 4 or 4.5 days per week
- Standard day or half-day off to be mutually determined at time of negotiation of physician employment agreement
Benefits
- Relocation assistance: $10,000 to $20,000 - Varies depending on distance of move, size of family, etc.
- Housing stipend: Potentially - Individually negotiated.
