About the role
The Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is undergoing a period of significant growth. We are seeking faculty candidates to join our outstanding group of dedicated academic neurologists in the Division of Epilepsy. Stony Brook is a 624‑bed tertiary care facility serving a catchment area of 1.5 million residents, with a Level IV adult and pediatric Epilepsy Center, a 20‑bed Neurological Critical Care Unit (NCCU), and a Level I Trauma Center in Suffolk County. Our faculty leads nationally recognized subspecialty centers in Neuromuscular Medicine, Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, and Movement Disorders in the outpatient setting. Ancillary services include MRI/PET, fMRI capabilities, EEG, EMG/NCV, and infusion therapy. This represents an exciting opportunity for a neurologist interested in building an outpatient practice at the region's premier academic medical center.
Responsibilities
- Coverage of the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
- Supervision of neurology residents, Advanced Practice Providers, and students.
- Contributing to the growth of our existing outpatient epilepsy practice.
- Opportunity to develop innovative clinical, educational, or research programs suited to your academic interests.
Qualifications
- Required: MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).
- Eligibility for New York State licensure.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology.
- Completion of an accredited Neurology Epilepsy fellowship or Neurophysiology fellowship.
- Preferred: Background in Epilepsy surgery workup and monitoring.
