About the role

The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis/Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.

Responsibilities

Applicants will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty and centers throughout the university to advance multi-disciplinary approaches. The successful applicants (PhD and/or MD) will be members of this Interdisciplinary Center of Excellence with access to numerous state-of-the-art core facilities. The candidates should have a strong interest in pursuing pre-clinical research focused on developing and testing novel strategies to improve functional outcomes following spinal cord injury. Investigators using systems neuroscience, optogenetics, chemogenetics, computational, and/or regenerative approaches are of particular interest, but investigators using other approaches are also encouraged to apply. Prior work in spinal cord injury is not required.

Requirements

  • A significant record of academic accomplishment
  • The potential to attract independent research funding

Qualifications

  • PhD and/or MD degree
  • Strong interest in pre-clinical research focused on spinal cord injury
  • Experience with systems neuroscience, optogenetics, chemogenetics, computational, and/or regenerative approaches

Skills

  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong research skills

Benefits

Start-up packages, salaries and benefits are commensurate with experience.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

The schedule is full-time.
