Neurohospitalist - Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series

Neurohospitalist positions at the Department of Neurology, University of California, Irvine. Two board-certified or board-eligible faculty members are sought to help develop a dedicated Neurohospitalist Program at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, California.

About the Role

The ideal candidates will have exceptional training in the inpatient management of complex neurological disorders. Fellowship training in Neurohospitalist medicine, Vascular Neurology (Stroke), or Neurocritical Care is preferred. Successful candidates will work closely with the Comprehensive Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center and a multidisciplinary team of subspecialists, including neurologists, neuro-intensivists, neuro-interventionalists, cerebrovascular surgeons, and neuro-radiologists.

The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full professor rank. Preference is given to candidates with experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary neuroscience centers, involvement in professional societies, and backgrounds in teaching, clinical research, or clinical trials.

Responsibilities

• Teach fellows, residents, and medical students
• Provide patient care in an inpatient setting

• Provide public and University service

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. (or equivalent) with board certification or eligibility in Neurology
• Completion of a neurology subspecialty fellowship with substantial inpatient experience (e.g., vascular neurology, neurohospitalist, epilepsy, neurophysiology, or related fields)
• Eligibility for and ability to maintain an active, unrestricted California medical practice license
• Qualification for a faculty appointment in the Department of Neurology and medical-staff privileges at UCI Medical Center

Pay

Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Neurology ranging from $220,000 to $289,940. The position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides eligibility for additional compensation.
