About the role
The position involves performing multi-modality neurodiagnostic testing on pediatric and adult populations. Essential functions include gathering medical history, preparing patients and caregivers, and coordinating schedules to ensure timely testing.
Responsibilities
- Performs high quality neurodiagnostic tests according to department policy and standards of practice.
- Gathers pertinent medical history to aid neurologist in interpreting test data.
- Prepares patient and caregiver for diagnostic exams using appropriate distraction techniques.
- Assists neurologists in completing and recording EMG tests.
- Affords assistance in troubleshooting to minimize risks of poor or incomplete data collection.
- Coordinates schedules to prioritize patients and testing.
- Communicates with caregivers about delays in testing start times.
- Aids in the management of health information.
- Assists neurologists in timely reporting of test results by proofreading and correcting errors.
- Facilitates charge capture and reconciliation of procedure charges and professional fees.
- Accurately documents all procedures performed with new staff and students.
- Maintains adequate supply levels by monitoring, ordering, and restocking supplies.
- Ensures regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
Requirements
- Completed Neurodiagnostic Training Program accredited by CAAHEP or recognized by ABRET.
- Board eligibility and successful completion of the written examination within 2 years of program completion or hire.
- R-EEGT certification.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association within 30 days.
Qualifications
- Education: Completed Neurodiagnostic Training Program accredited by CAAHEP or recognized by ABRET.
- Skills: Basic computer skills required.
