Minimum qualifications and certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program or equivalent experience
  • BLS certification

About the role

To provide the basic technical skills necessary to perform one or more of the following electroneurodiagnostic procedures: electroencephalogram (EEG), intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), long term monitoring (LTM), evoked potential (EP), and nerve conduction studies (NCV).

Responsibilities

  • Performs electroneurodiagnostic studies according to written protocols
  • Explains procedures to patients and gathers medical history from patients and/or charts
  • Applies standard scalp electrodes using the 10/20 placement system
  • Adjusts test protocols based on patient history and study results, recognizing normal and abnormal variants
  • Identifies and corrects electrical and electronic malfunctions
  • Monitors and reviews raw study and video data during procedures
  • Prepares completed neurodiagnostic studies for interpretation
  • Completes the “Technician Impression” sheet, serving as a preliminary report
  • Edits and archives neurodiagnostic recordings
  • Competently performs routine inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic procedures
  • Sets up and assists with specialized neurodiagnostic procedures
  • Ensures patient safety, maintains privacy, and follows infection control protocols
