Neuroanatomy Instructor Summer 2026
Course Description
In Neuroanatomy, students will learn the basic cell biology of a neuron and how neurons work together. Students will then apply that understanding to the anatomy and physiology of various systems in the brain in the context of fictitious neurological patients. Specifically, we will focus on the cerebral cortex, various subcortex structures, and the visual system.
This course is interactive, uses videos and images, and includes hands-on activities such as building model systems using Play-doh or Model Magic, dissecting a sheep brain, and engaging in lab activities and demos to explore neuroanatomy from a variety of viewpoints.
The culminating event will be case-studies presentations where students adopt the roles of neurologists, psychiatrists, and/or neuro-radiologists to give a Grand Rounds-style presentation to the class focused on a particular patient.
In-person Camp Responsibilities
- Teaching the Education Unlimited curriculum
- Supervising campers both in and out of the classroom
- Organizing and leading classroom labs
- Executing a finale showcasing student work at the end of camp
- Tracking student work and handing in any deliverables to the camp director and EU home office
Online Camp Responsibilities
- Teaching the Education Unlimited curriculum
- Supervising campers online
- Organizing and leading classroom labs (students are mailed home lab supplies and do labs live with you via zoom)
- Executing a finale showcasing student work at the end of camp
- Tracking student work and handing in any deliverables to the camp director and EU home office
Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience teaching neuroanatomy or significant subject matter knowledge
- Experience working with high school or younger university students in an academic setting
- Bachelor's degree required; preference given to those with an advanced degree
- A passion for science education
- A calm and professional demeanor
- Self-motivation and follow-through
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
