About the role

The Neuro Ophthalmologist position at Houston Methodist is responsible for providing expert medical care to patients to diagnose and treat visual deficiencies and diseases of the eye. Duties include conducting routine eye examinations, referring patients to medical specialists, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, and managing and performing hospital day call consults.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine eye examinations on patients
• Referring patients to medical specialists
• Perform and interpret diagnostic testing and neuro treatment plans based on patient conditions
• Manage and perform hospital day call consults in a triage and referral role
• Provide leadership and knowledge in clinical and patient quality initiatives

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree
• Board certification in Ophthalmology
• Current Texas Medical License
• Completion of a residency program in Ophthalmology

Qualifications

• Experience in hospital-based ophthalmology
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

• Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and treatments
• Proficiency in diagnostic testing and interpretation
