About the Role
This position will be based in the Frederick, MD area and will support 24/7 operations, requiring shift and weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Identifies, gathers, and reviews requirements to support the design and implementation of Wired & Wireless LANs.
- Performs site surveys to design the network and identify device placement and materials required to implement and configure wired/wireless LANs.
- Ensures the operation and maintenance of information technology and network infrastructure systems.
- Conducts wireless site surveys, design, and RF spectrum analysis using tools such as Ekahau, AirMagnet, etc.
- Experience with Aruba Central as well as wireless APs, switches, and gateway network configuration and management is highly desired.
- Performs wireless capacity planning and coverage optimizations.
- Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and networks.
- Contributes to the overall performance, security, and availability of the program's Information Technology (IT) environment.
- Performs test and evaluation of wired and wireless networks to confirm performance and security in accordance with established thresholds.
- Diagnoses and resolves network-related issues, installs network hardware, implements network configurations, and provides technical support to end-users.
- Configures, implements, and operates IT and network applications to manage and perform network management and orchestration functions in production, lab, staging, and test environments.
- Manages and assigns relevant Internet Protocol (IP) space in coordination with other systems across the customer enterprise.
- Meets with the customer regularly to report on the status of the orchestration implementation and overall network health.
- Ensures direct down trace configuration, troubleshooting, and touch labor, providing input for other local IT personnel assisting with network maintenance.
- Collaborates with the assigned technical team to implement base configuration files for any changes needed on new devices.
- Develops, maintains, and updates technical documentation such as enterprise architecture, application/system design, and network architecture and design.
- Designs and tests prototype network components and configurations to validate designs prior to fielding.
- Builds lists of materials (LOMs) and bills of materials (BOMs) for network and wireless solutions.
- Supports firmware upgrades and patching of hardware.
Requirements
- Aruba Certified Professional (Campus Access or Switching) Certification and experience with Aruba Central.
- Experience using Ekahau wireless survey & design software.
- An ability to gain a DoD Secret Clearance or Public Trust clearance is required.
- High School diploma plus specialized training and 8+ years of experience; or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or experience.
- Candidate must be DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant.
- Additional network-relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., CCNA, CWNP, etc.).
- Experience in general networking and network administration, upgrades, and operations.
- Good technical writing skills with established experience producing reports using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio.
- Knowledge of elementary design to the concept level.
- Understanding of telecommunication room (TR), CAT 6, and wiring standards.
- U.S. citizenship is required to meet eligibility for accessing sensitive information.
Pay
Hourly: Minimum $60.00, Maximum $73.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
